I fully respect the right of Mr Peter Collett to express the view (Oxford Mail, letters, April 11) that, in his opinion, Mr Cameron is unwanted and should resign and call an election immediately. However, I object strongly when Mr Collett claims to represent the views of “(all) the Queen’s subjects”.

I did not vote for Mr Cameron last May, but I have been impressed with most of what he has been seeking to achieve since he came to office. And the Coalition is infinitely preferable to the previous disastrous administration.

So, Mr Cameron, I invite you to ignore Mr Collett’s assertion. I, for one, am prepared to reserve judgement on your administration’s performance until much closer to the end of your term, until when, I, and I suspect a significant proportion of the Queen’s subjects, will be happy for you to remain in office.
