LIGHTNING doesn’t strike twice... unless you’re a member of the Harper family from Banbury, that is.

Paul Harper, 52, won £75 when he was picked out as our Face In The Crowd at Oxford United’s game on Saturday.

But it was a double shock, as his 16-year-old son Lewis won the prize back in January.

Mr Harper said: “We couldn’t believe it. Lewis won only a few weeks ago and we were sitting in a totally different bit of the stadium this time.

“My younger son Reece was sitting next to me. I think he was a bit disappointed it wasn’t him.”

Mr Harper, an accountant by trade, is also the chairman of the Banbury Referees’ Association and spends most weekends refereeing.

He said: “But as this was a local derby, I always knew I was going to come along to watch.”

Oxford United drew 2-2 against Wycombe, but Mr Harper nearly missed out on claiming his prize.

He said: “I get the paper every night, but I hadn’t had time to read it, so it wasn’t until a friend sent a text that I saw the picture.”

He added: “I think Oxford have had a fine season. A lot of people are grumbling they aren’t in the play-offs but you can’t have your cake and eat it.

“As a supporter, you have to appreciate all the improvements they’ve made.”
