SCHOOLCHILDREN in Bicester have promised to protect their environment for future generations.

Pupils at Glory Farm School, in Hendon Place, are working towards eco-school status,so they can proudly fly the green flag.

As part of children’s drive to reduce their carbon footprint, they have made promises to implement a host of practical measures.

Among the initiatives is creating a wildlife garden, reducing energy use at the school, such as switching off lights and electrical equipment when not in use, and finding ways to reduce water use.

To ptomote the campaign, the pupils set up a tree of promises, where they can make pledges for all to see, showing how they will help the environment.

Parent co-ordinatorJane Gough said: “The project has been a great success.

“Everyone in school got involved, helping to increase awareness.”
