THREE members of the town branch of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution received long service awards in 1990. Colin Tait, Sandra Winzor and her husband, Brian, are seen in the first picture with lifeboat models built by Vic Cole, of Faringdon.

Wantage Gymnasts Club, run by Margaret Clement, a qualified coach, was flourishing in 1980 with a membership of 120 and a waiting list. Two girls, Caroline Hipperson and Rachel Roberts, were in the county squad and members had won a host of trophies. Sandra Carter, 11, is seen in action in the second picture.

Wantage Comrades Club completed work on a new snooker room in 1987. County champion Dave Johns and 1983 champion Dave Alton played an exhibition match after the mayor, Peter Rolls, seen in the third picture, broke the first pack of reds to mark the opening.
