The opponents of electoral reform are currently meeting some success by deceiving voters with a confidence trick.

The trick is to pretend to support electoral reform, to rubbish the AV system and to con people into voting against it.

The deceit is compounded by the use of the “Yes” vote and the “No” vote implying that the electorate had the choice of accepting or rejecting a different voting system. But you cannot vote against anything – you can only vote for AV or to retain the present FPTP system.

And don’t think you are going to get another chance for another referendum.

You won’t – this is a one-off.
