The Oxfordshire rugby team in 1950
THESE were the rugby players who represented Oxfordshire in 1950.
The picture comes from Hazel Wood, widow of John ‘Chipper’ Wood, who had an outstanding career in the sport.
As we recalled (Memory Lane, December 6, last year), he played for Oxford Citizens RFC, Northampton, Bath and Cheltenham before emigrating in 1969 to New Zealand, where he became rugby and athletics coach at Taupo College.
