WOMEN on an Oxford estate will be enjoying a kick around with England’s hottest hope for the next Women’s World Cup tomorrow.

Arsenal and England striker Ellen White, 22, will visit Barton to celebrate Oxford’s International Women’s Festival.

She is set to compete at the Fifa Women’s World Cup in Germany during June and July.

Tomorrow’s ‘Move It, Kick It, Chill It’ event will give women on the estate the chance to get active and then relax for free.

Organiser Anne Marie Browne said: “It will be a great opportunity for women of all ages, and families, to come together to share and learn.

“It will give people time out to have fun, and speak to someone they may never have before in their community.

“We hope people may also learn something new or share a skill or talent you have with the community.”

This year’s Oxford International Women’s Festival programme is based on the theme ‘Women and Wellbeing’.

Events have focused on health issues, sport, dance, music, and activities that “promote a sense of wellness”.

The day will start with football tournaments between 10am and noon, followed by singing and dancing workshops in the afternoon.

It will end with workshops on emotional wellbeing and beauty.

Barton Community Association secretary Sue Holden said: “It should be a real boost for women of all ages in Barton to get active, have a bit of fun, and then relax.

“I hope a lot of people will come along and make the most of it.”

Refreshments will be provided by Eatwells, the community run cafe based at the Neighbourhood Centre, in Underhill Circus.

Amnesty International, Oxford Brookes University and estate day nursery The Roundabout Centre will also be hosting information stalls on the day, as will local artists and Barton Community Farm.
