After deciding to avoid Heathrow, we decided to spend Christmas in a three-star Bournemouth Hotel.
Apart from the initial feeling that I’d walked into God’s waiting room, I was surprised to see that blankets had made a comeback.
Surely quilts are the order of the day now, even in the most basic of establishments? A bus pass holder like me had, thankfully, forgotten the joys of this itchy item of heat and bug, retention.
The time spent in the hotel, plus the company, food, wine and entertainment were all good. So why will I always remember that flaming blanket?
I’m itching to forget it.
