Police are appealing for information after a robbery at a betting shop in Banbury last night.

At 8.22pm, three men, one of them carrying a machete, entered the Ladbrokes betting shop in Hanwell Fields and demanded that staff hand over money.

They were handed money and left the shop, making off from the scene on foot in the direction of the Highlands estate.

Det Sgt Matt Bick said: “I would like to speak to anyone who was in the area who saw or heard anything suspicious.

“Witnesses saw the men running alongside the school, across the fields and play area into the housing estate (Highlands) after the incident.

“Thankfully no one was seriously hurt in this incident, though staff at the store were left shaken by what happened.”

Anyone with information should contact Det Sgt Bick via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police Enquiry Line on 0845 8 505 505. Alternatively, you can contact the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
