OXFORD Railway Station will ditch the supplier of its cashless parking system from Monday.
First Great Western and Network Rail will replace the RingGo system with one designed by enforcement company APCOA.
Last night, FGW denied claims by RingGo that the switch will cause “chaos” for passengers and predicted business as usual.
Didcot Parkway, Cholsey and Charlbury stations are also switching supplier.
Train users can park their car in the stations’ car parks and pay by phone using a code which is only accessible from the platform.
The service started in 2005.
RingGo chief executive Joanna Miller said hundreds of people had contacted them to complain about the loss of the service.
She said: “It’s so rare for parking to generate this sort of positive sentiment.
“It just shows the strength of feeling motorists have for RingGo – it’s something they rely on to work for them, and there is widespread dismay.”
FGW spokesman Dan Panes said: “There will still be a cashless parking system. The only thing that will change will be the telephone number.”
