TWO lucky residents will join a traditional Abingdon bun-throwing ceremony for the first time in its 250-year history, to celebrate the Royal Wedding.
A raffle is being held to find two people to join councillors in lobbing the buns from the roof of the old County Hall in Market Place on April 29, once Prince William and Kate Middleton have wed.
The idea came from nine-year-old Emma Fawcett, the daughter of Abingdon town councillor Samantha Bowring.
The youngster had the brainwave while watching a council meeting.
The Carswell Primary School pupil said: “They wanted an idea for how to get more people to the bun throwing.”
Proceeds from the £1 tickets will go towards a £3.5m renovation of the County Hall museum, which is currently closed.
Tickets are available at the town council offices in Old Abbey House, Abbey Close. The raffle will close on April 12 with the winner drawn on April 15.
