Sir – Since the suggestion that the traffic lights in Frideswide Square are not useful, how about an experiment to turn them all off in Oxford for two separated weeks.
We can then find out which ones are really necessary. The money saved in traffic lights maintenance per annum would go a good way towards preventing some libraries from closing altogether.
