A WOMAN reported to police she was raped in an Oxford hotel on Saturday after meeting the men in a city centre nightclub.

Police have arrested two men and released them on bail while their investigation continues.

Does this interest or concern you? Is it not a matter that the public should be aware of, coming, as it does, so soon after a similar (although unconnected) incident in the same city?

Thames Valley Police – the force we so famously exposed as concealing more than 99 per cent of crimes reported to it – thought not.

This rape complaint only become public because the Oxford Mail heard about it and asked police for details.

Often they keep such things secret because they believe the public so immature it would cause a panic – or they have arrested suspects and so need no help from witnesses.

But it is not for the police to hold you in such contempt.

You have a right to know and we shall continue to hold Thames Valley’s Secret Police to account.
