This is the first time I have written to the Oxford Mail, but after the fantastic service we had at the newly refurbished Red Lion in the city centre I felt that everybody needs to know about it!

My partner and I had taken our 11-month-old son to get a bit of shopping in the city centre and decided to get some lunch.

As we had our son with us we were quite limited as to where we could go. We didn’t want the fast food-type places, so we decided to go to the Red Lion.

We had not been for a while and didn’t realise that it had been shut for a refurbishment and had only recently reopened.

We were greeted at the door by an extremely polite and cheery member of staff who immediately made us feel welcome and got us a table very quickly, with a high chair for my son.

Unfortunately they didn’t have a specific children’s menu but another member of staff said that as all the food was prepared freshly, he should be able to get the kitchen to do a special order to accommodate our needs.

My son had sausage chips and peas which wasn’t even on the menu. He loved it and our food was fantastic as well.

I would really recommend that everyone tries the new look Red Lion. We had a lovely time.
