I READ with deep concern the proposed vicious cuts to the maintenance of day centres.

I am nearly 89 and I really look forward to having a day out at the club in The Slade.

Have the executives really looked at all the options to keep all of the pensioners’ clubs open?

The good care we have helps us lead normal lives. Our carers don’t want to lose their jobs and everything should be done to save our clubs and staff. I notice that MPs have agreed to take reasonable action and curtail their pay. Surely the people responsible for our welfare could do the same to help us enjoy a couple of days out? To everyone concerned: please help pensioners to have a least a day out. JACK FALLOWS Jackson Road Cutteslowe Oxford
