DISCARDED, broken and unwanted everyday objects have been drawing crowds at an Oxford shopping centre.
The Broken Home exhibition at Templar’s Square shopping centre explores how everyday objects make a house a home.
Cait Sweeney and fellow artist Suzy Prior created the exhibition, collecting broken items from skips and gardens.
Self-employed painter and decorator Ms Sweeney, 44, of Littlemore, said she was struck by the public’s reaction to the piece.
She said: “There were lots of quite retro items and people were referencing specific objects and coming up with memories. I found that really interesting. That’s what the piece is about – it’s the meaning we give to objects.”
The public can donate an object from their own home to add to the collection as it moves from place to place.
The free exhibition is now on show at the T Arts Centre in Crowell Road, Cowley, until April 4.
