Does Britain need the alternative voting system?
What we need is a voting system in which candidates who make promises which they know they can not, or will not, keep if elected are held to account.
We must all remember the promise of a referendum on Europe and that when Labour won the election Gordon Brown went back on the promise.
Although the opposition parties had a lot to say about it at the time, now they are in power themselves they are still refusing a referendum. Changing to an alternative voting system as proposed will not help one little bit.
They all say one thing to get the vote and then do the opposite – councillors included.
