A MAN stabbed behind shops in Blackbird Leys was making a good recovery last night.

The 48-year-old victim was stabbed in the stomach with a double-pronged weapon at Top Shops in Knights Road at about 12.15pm on Tuesday.

He was in the service road behind the shops when he was approached by a man who shoved him, demanded his wallet and then stabbed him.

The victim, who had his wallet stolen, was taken to Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital.

Dc Lisa Heaton said: “Thankfully the victim’s injuries aren’t life threatening and he is on the way to making a good recovery, though it has left him very shaken.”

She said: “I would appeal for anyone who saw this brazen robbery in broad daylight to come forward and speak to me as soon as possible.

“We are examining CCTV footage from the area. Officers from the neighbourhood team carried out an extensive house-to-house check in the area on Tuesday afternoon to speak with residents and offer reassurance.”

The attacker is described as black, in his early 20s, 5ft11ins tall and of stocky build.
