Police today issued a description of a man wanted after a robbery in Oxford yesterday in which a 48-year-old man was stabbed.

Police were called to the shops in Knights Road, Blackbird Leys, shortly after 12.15pm, after the man was found with stab wounds.

The man had been in the service road behind the shops when he was approached by a man who assaulted him and demanded his wallet.

During the altercation, the victim was stabbed with what is thought to be a double-pronged instrument.

The robber is described as a black man in his early twenties, 5ft 11in tall and with a stocky build. He was wearing a dark-coloured hooded top with the hood up and dark-coloured trousers and possibly white footwear.

Det Con Lisa Heaton: “I would appeal for anyone who saw this brazen robbery in broad daylight to come forward and speak to me as soon as possible.

“Thankfully the victim’s injuries aren’t life threatening and he is on the way to making a good recovery, though understandably it has left him very shaken.

“We are currently examining CCTV footage from the area and I would be keen to speak to anyone else who may have used the service entrance to the Top Shops earlier in the day, who may have seen this man loitering.

“Officers from the local neighbourhood team carried out an extensive house-to-house check in the area yesterday afternoon to speak with local residents and offer reassurance.”
