Sir – I was amused by the council’s spokesman, Louisa Dean, who at the Save Temple Cowley Pool protest said that retaining the pool and gym, ‘is full of risks as more serious issues may be found with the building’.
The council has continuously reaffirmed that £10m is needed to refurbish Temple Cowley pool and gym whilst now the Green Party, using the council finance department has calculated that it will only need £3m to refurbish both pools at Temple Cowley and Blackbird Leys.
Far from the council ‘diligently demonstrating that the new pool (at Blackbird Leys) is the best option’ as Ms Dean said, the council’s figures can now be seen to be massaged out of all credibility and accountability. Why is the council so set on spending £16m on this new pool?
