Police today released CCTV images of a man wanted in connection with the theft of two purses in Banbury.

The man shown here was captured on CCTV in an Argos store in Stratford-upon-Avon using a bank card stolen along with a purse in Calder Close, Grimsbury, on November 16.

The theft was one of two reported purse thefts from the same location, where thieves managed to fraudulently obtain the PIN numbers of the cards and then went on to spend more than £600 on them.

PC Lucy McDonagh said: “The cards were used at various cashpoints and in the Argos in Stratford-upon-Avon.

“We believe this man may have links to the Banbury, Bicester and Stratford-upon-Avon areas and I would urge anyone who recognises him to come forward and speak to me as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information should contact PC McDonagh via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police Enquiry Line on 0845 8 505 505. Alternatively, you can contact the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
