Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision on the M40 today.

At 10.10am, a green Volkswagen Beetle and a white Vauxhall Astra were involved in a collision as they were travelling south on the M40 between junctions 10 and 9.

The driver of the Volkswagen Beetle, a woman, was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, for treatment although her injuries are not believed to be serious.

PC Richard Medway, of Bicester Roads Policing Department, said: “It is possible that there may be a third vehicle involved in the collision which didn’t stop at the scene.

“We are also keen to trace the driver of a white curtain-sided lorry, with Krato Chivil written on the side in red. It is possible that the driver carried on travelling southbound but could have turned off on the A34 towards Oxford.

“I am appealing for any motorists who may have seen the vehicles involved prior to the collision and also anyone who may have witnessed the collision.

"There was congestion in the area while the motorway was closed but it has reopened and the traffic is now running smoothly."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC Medway at Bicester police station via 0845 8 505 505, or if you don’t want to talk to the police or give your name, call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
