A round up of cases recently heard at Oxford Magistrates' Court

Lynn Skegg, 56, of Heath Drive, Binfield Heath, near Henley, admitted four counts of theft of DVDs, clothes consumer electronics and a test postal packet from Royal Mail in Henley-on-Thames between January 1, 2007, and June 3, 2010. Given an 18-week jail term, suspended for a year, and ordered to do 300 hours’ unpaid work.

Elena Pavel, 19, of Khartoum Road, Ilford, Essex, admitted shoplifting with two others 23 bottles of Jack Daniel’s valued at £523.84 from Tesco in Oxford on January 28. Jailed for four weeks.

Mohammed Najadi, 22, of Luther Street, Oxford, admitted criminal damage worth an estimated £250 to a window belonging to 001 Taxis in Oxford on January 17. Given a 12-month conditional discharge and told to pay £85 costs and £150 compensation.

Kyle Goulding, 22, of Foxwell Drive, Oxford, admitted criminal damage to a value unknown to a door in Oxford on January 8. Find £150 and a £15 victims’ surcharge.

Thomas Butler, 22, of Dalton Barracks, Abingdon, admitted failing to comply with a community order by failing to attend unpaid work on Janaury 9. Given an extra 10 hours’ unpaid work and told to pay £50 costs.

Carl Doman, 26, of Oriel Court, Didcot, admitted failing to comply with a community order by failing to work as instructed on January 9. Given an extra hour’s unpaid work and told to pay £50 costs.

Thomas Larman, 18, of Watson Crescent, Wootton, near Abingdon, admitted failing to comply with a community order by failing to attend unpaid work on December 29 and 31. Given an extra hour’s unpaid work.

Mandy Davis, 49, of Druids Walk, Didcot, admitted using a television set without a licence on July 26 in Didcot. Fined £70, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £60 costs.

Nichola Dawson, 34, of Saxton Road, Abingdon, convicted of using a television set without a licence on November 2 in Abingdon. Fined £70, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £60 costs.

Joanne Edwards, 34, of Thames View, Abingdon, convicted of using a television set without a licence between September 13 and October 14 in Abingdon. Fined £350, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £60 costs.

Andre Flick, 44, of Torridge Drive, Didcot, convicted of using a television set without a licence on August 12. Fined £350, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £60 costs.

Steven Storer, 32, of Paradise Street, Oxford, admitted threatening to damage or destroy property in Oxford on January 16. Given a six-month conditional discharge and a restraining order. Told to pay £45 costs.

Simon Hill, 27, of Windmill Road, Towersey, near Thame, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm in Thame on November 13. Given 50 hours’ unpaid work and told to pay £350 compensation and £85 costs.

Martin Judd, 23, of Asquith Road, Oxford, admitted possessing cannabis (Class B) in Oxford on October 13. Given an 18-month conditional discharge and told to pay £85 costs.

Andrew Kilgour, 24, of Les Mielles Close, St Clement, Jersey, admitted harassment without violence between January 1 and January 31 in Oxford. Given an indefinite restraining order and told to pay a £250 fine, £35 costs and £15 victims’ surcharge.

Adam Bullard, 25, of Luther Street, Oxford, admitted shoplifting whisky valued at £27.97 from Marks & Spencer in Oxford on January 31. Existing community order revoked and original offences of two thefts and a public-order offence resentenced. Jailed for 28 days.

Bernard Day, 39, of James Street, Oxford, admitted three counts of begging in public in Cowley Road on November 26, December 11 and January 6. Given an 18-month conditional discharge and told to pay £85 costs.

Phillip Radley, 22, of The Grates, Oxford, admitted failing to comply with a community order by failing to work as instructed on January 9. Original offence of ABH resentenced. Given a six-month conditional discharge.

Ashley Ensoll, 20, of Walker Drive, Thame, admitted failing to comply with a community order by failing to report for supervision on December 23 and January 4. Told to pay £50 costs and a do a five-day course.

John Cronin, 72, of Dashwood Road, Oxford, admitted failing to comply with a community order by failing to attend unpaid work on January 6. Original offence of drink driving resentenced. Given a one-month conditional discharge.

Samuel Edmonds, 18, of Orchard Way, Kidlington, admitted breach of a curfew on Christmas Eve. Given seven extra hours’ unpaid work and told to pay £65 costs.

Aaron Hudson, 20, of Morrell Avenue, Oxford, admitted breach of a curfew six times in December and January. Original offences of two frauds re-sentenced. Given a one-month conditional discharge, community order revoked and told to pay £65 costs.

Lulian-Costin Scarlet, 29, of no fixed address, admitted shoplifting food and alcohol to the value of £477 from Sainsbury’s in Wantage and shoplifting food and alcohol valued at £411.69 from Tesco in Didcot on January 29. Jailed for 28 days.
