THREE men have been released on bail following a police raid on a suspected cannabis factory.

Police arrived at the house in Hertford Street, East Oxford, at about 3pm on Wednesday.

A witness, who did not want to be named, said: “I turned into the road and there was a large amount of police outside one of the houses.

“I turned the car round and saw about five or six policemen in an alleyway passing tubs along to each other in a chain.

“They were then emptying them into wheelie bins.”

The witness said he saw three wheelie bins full of cannabis plants and a fourth was being filled as he left.

Thames Valley Police spokesman Chris Kearney said between 200 and 300 cannabis plants were found in the house.

He added: “Pretty much every room had been converted for the production of cannabis.”

Three men, aged 19, 21 and 22, were arrested on suspicion of possessing controlled drugs with intent to supply. After questioning, they were bailed and ordered to return to the city’s St Aldate’s police station on Tuesday, April 19.
