Two four-bedroom houses are still available at a small development in west Oxfordshire.

Malthouse Farm is set in the grounds of the property of the same name, which is mentioned in the 11th-century Domesday Book.

It was once owned by William the Conqueror’s half-brother Odo who was the Bishop of Bayeux.

Arranged around a gated courtyard in Brighthampton, near Standlake, the houses are traditionally built with a number of different finishes such as rustic stone, self-coloured render and timber.

All include energy-saving features such as air source heat pumps for hot water and heating, energy efficient lighting, double-glazed timber windows and high-grade thermal insulation.

Three of the four and five-bedroom houses have been sold.

Still on the market is The Granary, a four-bedroom home with open-plan kitchen/breakfast area, living room with open fireplace plus a dining room and study, priced at £600,000.

The show home, Malting House, includes an open-plan kitchen/family room, a conservatory area and four bedrooms. It is on sale for £595,000, Both homes have ensuite bathrooms to two bedrooms, a landscaped garden and double garage.

The Malthouse Farm site also includes two one-bedroom cottages that will be sold for just half their market value, at £91,665.

The occupants will be selected by West Oxfordshire District Council from its housing needs register, as part of a scheme to make more affordable homes available in the district.
