Having read recently of the Oxfordshire recycling results, I decided to take some old car body panels deemed too far gone for a Triumph Spitfire restoration I am attempting.
Having loaded up and travelled to my local tip at Stanton Harcourt, about to empty my scrap into the metal recycling bin, a representative came over and told me that I couldn’t put them there.
He said that I was not allowed to leave car parts and would have to take them to a scrap yard.
I can just imagine what a scrap yard would say if I turned up with them, though!
It is a good job the council was not collecting railings for the war effort, as they would have been saying: “We can’t have those, they have black paint on,” or “Those have pointy ends and could cause a health and safety issue”.
Why does the council come up with good schemes but go at them half-baked?
