A MASSIVE gas mains repair project has arrived in Oxford’s busy Beaumont Street.
A huge trench has been dug along the centre of the road outside the Ashmolean Museum, stretching from the Randolph Hotel to St John Street. Traffic is still flowing in both directions.
The work is part of a gas main repair project which has already been blamed for a drop in trade in nearby Jericho.
Shopkeepers in Little Clarendon Street said excavations in Walton Street drove customers away, leaving traders on the brink of collapse.
