As the M40 through Oxfordshire celebrates its 20th year, it is hard to imagine life without it.
It is not difficult to imagine what we would have lost if it had been allowed to plough through the heart of Otmoor.
The area has developed much in the intervening years as a place for quiet contemplation and as a reserve for nature.
