A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of robbery after an incident in Oxford in which a woman was threatened with a hammer.
The boy was arrested after a 22-year-old woman reported being approached by a boy carrying a small hammer in New Inn Hall Street at 11.30pm yesterday.
The boy threatened her and rummaged through her belongings, then stole a small amount of change from her handbag.
The woman said the robber ran away when another man walked towards them.
Special Constables patrolling the city centre stopped a boy who matched the description of the robber and carried out a search. They found him in possession of a hammer.
The boy was arrested and taken to St Aldates police station, where he remains in custody.
