Sir – We were hugely disappointed to hear of the cancellation of this year’s Oxford Folk Festival.
Not only is the city deprived of one of its most popular events that celebrate the range and diversity of Oxford’s music heritage, it is also a stark reminder how important it is for such events to be supported.
This can be done in any number of ways, from members of the public going along to performances, to firms and arts organisations providing finance, ‘in kind’ help and sponsorship. Times are tough, and, if we as a city are to help prevent any further losses to our unique arts calendar, we should do what we can to show our support to those events that survive.
