Police have made three arrests following an armed robbery in Headington.
Two men in hooded tops entered the Betfred betting shop in London Road at about 8pm yesterday and robbed it at gunpoint.
Police said a man with what was believed to be a gun threatened the cashier and demanded he put money into a black bin bag. The offenders made off with a small sum of money. No one was injured during the robbery.
Two men, both aged 25, were arrested in Oxford city centre last night on suspicion of armed robbery. A 22-year-old woman was also arrested at the same time on suspicion of aiding and abetting.
An imitation firearm and a knife were seized by the police during the arrests.
All three are in custody at St Aldates Police station.
Det Sgt John Linsdell, who is appealing for witnesses, said: “This was a particularly unpleasant robbery in a residential area.
“While we do have suspects currently in custody, we value any information witnesses and members of the public may be able to provide that will assist us with our enquiries.”
