Hot-shot Hamish Fires Four

Hamish Hall scored four times as Kidlington overcame Summertown Stars in two very open games on a wet and windy morning at Stratfield Brake.

The visitors created the better chances in both games - particularly the second which they ironically lost 6-2 - but the home team proved more potent in front of goal to eventually run out 9-5 winners.

Kidlington opened the scoring when a quick passing movement the entire length of the pitch involving midfield trio Marcus Tranter, Luca Sykes and Ethan Couling was finished off superbly by the latter from the edge of the box. Kidlington old-boy Pierce Giles put the visitors level soon afterwards with a powerful strike before Judahne Medley restored the home team's lead with a strong run and excellent finish. Kidlington went 3-1 ahead when Luca Sykes' mazy run into the box ended with his shot being deflected into his own goal by an unfortunate Summertown defender.

Summertown bounced back, hitting the post and the bar in separate moves before the lively Max Liddy scored either side of half time to square the match at three all. There was no further score although Kidlington nearly won it late on when a cheeky back-heel from substitute Thomas Anderson was well saved by the visiting keeper.

In the second game, Cian Ellis put the Stars ahead before Hall got his first in a goalmouth scramble. Hall then got his second after a quick turn and shot, but Angus Tufnell tied the score at 2-2 before half-time.

Kidlington went ahead just after half time when Callum Rolfe's shot was deflected in by a visiting defender. Thereafter Summertown repeatedly carved Kidlington open, only to either shoot wide or be denied by home keeper Joe Keighery who was in excellent form. In pushing forward however, the Stars left gaps at the back which Kidlington exploited ruthlessly. Ben Stewart got Kidlington's fourth having been put through by Fraser Day, while Hall got numbers five and six, the former after good work by Rolfe.

Well done to both teams for providing such an entertaining spectacle despite the poor weather conditions.
