THEATRE-GOERS are being offered the chance to have their dedication to the arts preserved for all to see.
They are being urged to sponsor one of the 224 seats at Didcot’s Cornerstone arts centre.
For £200 for three years, donors will get a plaque on the back of the seat with the wording of their choice, a certificate and an invitation to a sponsors’ launch. The £7.4m centre is owned by South Oxfordshire District Council and costs about £400,000 a year to run. It has attracted 150,000 visitors since it opened in 2008.
It has an auditorium for theatre, shows, concerts and performances, a gallery, a cafe, bar and restaurant, a dance studio and space for meetings.
Bill Service, council cabinet member for leisure, said: “Anyone who sponsors a seat will play a unique part in the building’s future and make a great contribution to it.”
