BAYWATCH star David Hasselhoff turned up at the Oxford Union to air his views on everything from reality TV to David Cameron.

US actor, singer and all-round entertainer Mr Hasselhoff was given the floor to hold forth, and occasionally sing, on any number of subjects.

He told the audience Witney MP and Prime Minister Mr Cameron admitted being a huge fan of his television series Knight Rider. Dressed in a shiny grey suit and tie, the 58-year-old took to the platform to ringing applause and a standing ovation on Tuesday.

He handed out T-shirts carrying the slogan “Don’t Hassle The Hoff”.

During a 10-minute introduction, Mr Hasselhoff explained that he had just come up from Westminster, where he bumped into Mr Cameron.

He said: “I say, ‘I’d really like to meet the Prime Minister’, and as I turned around there is the Prime Minister.

“He said, ‘I’m a big fan of Knight Rider’. I said, ‘I’m a big fan of you – are you Tony Blair?’.”

During a half hour question and answer session at the Union in Frewin Court, he also discussed his daughter Hayley’s battles with weight issues and his own personal problems.

For the most part, the talk remained light, although the Britain’s Got Talent judge had some harsh words to say about television reality shows, telling his audience they exploited young people and had “ruined television.”
