Student company BlindSpot Productions presents a new adaptation of August Strindberg’s A Dream Play from Wednesday at the Oxford Playhouse.

Agnes, daughter of a god, has a crush on mankind. To her, human life is a wonderland of dancing girls, misfits and music hall numbers, where stories merge and evaporate like dreams. Challenging the power of her imagination, Agnes discovers joy and heartbreak.

BlindSpot Productions are offering a rare opportunity to see the play that Strindberg called his “greatest joy”. Emma Reay’s new adaptation and director Griffith Rees’s production set out to capture the play’s sense of hope and playfulness, combining the fairytale-like wonder of Agnes’s journey of self-discovery with great technical scope.

An original score has been composed by David Allen, a professional musician with a wealth of experience, including most recently Oxford Playhouse’s sell-out production of T.S. Eliot’s Murder in the Cathedral at Christ Church Cathedral.

The production includes dance and creative movement.
