A VILLAGE is urging people to get on their bikes to raise £10,000.

Islip residents have organised three community cycle rides, for different levels, and wants 100 people to take part on Sunday, March 27.

The toughest ride will be 65 miles from Westminster Abbey to Islip, and the route will take in sights such as Buckingham Palace and Hyde Park, follow the Grand Union Canal, and travel through the Chilterns via Great Missenden, Princess Risborough and Thame.

For the less energetic, there is also an 18-mile ride from Thame to the village and, for youngsters, Tykes and Trikes – a ride in the village – plus a best bike competition.

Money raised will be used to buy IT equipment at Dr South’s Primary School and for the Church of St Nicholas in the village.

One of the Big Bike Ride project organisers Johanna Stephenson said: “This bike ride is a real community partnership and we hope that it will be a fantastic day.”

Entry costs £20 for adult bike rides and £2 for the children’s event. For more information call Mrs Stephenson on 01865 848331 or Alison Mitchell on 07834 309675.
