EMPLOYERS, training providers and industry experts are lining up to promote a campaign to find the next generation of apprentices.

More than 40 firms have already signed up to attend the launch of the Oxfordshire 100 in 100 Challenge.

The campaign, organised by the National Apprenticeship Service and backed by the Oxford Mail, is looking to find 100 new apprentices in 100 days. It starts on Monday with a breakfast event at the Milton Hill Hotel, near Steventon.

And to give employers and young people a full picture of what the campaign is about, a special supplement will be published in tomorrow’s Mail highlighting the benefits of apprenticeships and speaking to people who have already started work under apprenticeship schemes.

As well as the businesses, 13 training providers will also be on hand at the event to advise bosses on how to recruit apprentices.

Speakers from companies such as Oxford law firm HMG Law and Chalgrove plumbing company Renelec will also give presentations, along with young people who have already started apprenticeship schemes.

Supporters of the campaign include Abingdon and Witney College, Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce, Oxfordshire County Council and the Oxfordshire branch of the Institute of Directors.
