A family were overcome by toxic fumes caused by cleaning products at their home in Clare, near Watlington, on Tuesday.
Two fire crews were called to the incident on the main road in the hamlet at 5pm.
They cordoned off the house and used fans to ventilate it.
Two adults and a child were taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital, but were not thought to be seriously injured.
Station manager Gary D’Anger warned people to always read the instructions on the bottle.
He said: “The occupants had been using a chemical drain unblocker and mixed this with a cleaning product to cleanse a waste pipe.
“Very toxic chemicals and gases can be produced by mixing different cleaning products together which can cause very serious and sometime permanent injuries.”
