CHILDREN dressed up as doctors and nurses to hand over cash to real medical staff at Oxford Children’s Hospital.

Youngsters from the Co-operative Childcare nursery, on the city’s Blackbird Leys estate, visited the facility, next to the John Radcliffe Hospital, in Headington, to present the £7,114 donation.

The cash was the last of thousands of pounds raised by staff from the Midcounties Co-operative.

Nursery manager Jane Long said staff had played a role in helping to raise the cash, including abseiling down the side of the hospital.

She said: “The children thought it was great to be dressed as doctors and nurses.

“Some of them have used the hospital for appointments and operations, so they loved it.”
