A MAN suffered serious head injuries in an assault in Cowley Road last night.
Officers were called at 2.50am to reports of an altercation and assault outside The Regal nightclub, police said.
A 32-year-old man was taken to The John Radcliffe Hospital where he is in a stable condition.
A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the assault and is in custody at Oxford police station.
A police cordon was this morning set up at the junction of Southfield Road and Cowley Road, by the City Arms pub.
Thames Valley Police said: “Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the assault or has any information as to the identity of any possible offenders.”
