TEAMS of enterprising youngsters will flock to Cowley today to prove they’ve got what it takes to succeed in business.
More than 20 companies formed by junior entrepreneurs will sell their products at Templars Square Shopping Centre.
The event is part of the Young Enterprise scheme which involves more than 500 students from 34 county schools.
They are running 43 Young Enterprise companies this year and many will be selling products at the trade fair, which runs from 9am to 4pm.
Gordon Beach, chairman of Young Enterprise Oxfordshire, said: “Young Enterprise is a great opportunity for students to really experience what it is like to run a business.”
Among the teams taking part today are Illumibike from the Cherwell School, North Oxford, selling bike safety products, and a team from the Marlborough School, Woodstock, who hope to clean up with soap.
Also taking part is Aspire, a team set up by Year 10 pupils at the School of St Helen and St Katherine, Abingdon.
The 25-strong firm is selling message boards, door stops and bunting.
Managing director Emily Macpherson, 14, from Faringdon, said: “We had a brain storming session over the summer holidays and decided to produce a range of different products using checked material which is very trendy.
“The idea is to use an old-fashioned style but to be up-to-date at the same time.”
