A MAN accused of raping a woman with learning difficulties in Witney told jurors he initially lied to police because officers had murdered his brother in Africa.
Musa Camara, 22, denies rape, a serious sexual assault and sexual assault in relation to a 23-year-old woman in Witney on June 30 last year.
He told Oxford Crown Court yesterday he did not trust police after his brother was beaten to death by officers in Gambia.
Camara, of Burwell Drive, Witney, twice told investigators he had not been in Witney that day and had not met the alleged victim, before later admitting having sex with her after DNA evidence linked him to the scene.
He said he was “scared of what the police might do” and did not trust his interpreter nor his solicitor.
Jurors are expected to retire to consider their verdicts today.
