It is great news that Oxford is to host one of four key cultural celebrations to mark the 2012 Olympics in London.
The city and its county do not have the facilities to host Olympic sporting events, but the one thing we do particularly well is culture.
For Oxfordshire to host one of only two regional events in England to mark the Olympics is a triumph by any standards.
We hope too that the Olympic torch will be paraded through Oxford and other parts of the county on its way to the London Olympics.
