MORE than 600 people were caught watching television without a licence in Oxford last year.
More than 1,400 people across the county were caught, including 240 in Banbury, more than 120 in Abingdon and 110 in Didcot.
The evasion rate remains at just over five per cent.
TV Licensing spokesman Ian Fannon said: “We try to give people every chance to get on the right side of the law, but ultimately if they fail to pay, we will take action.”
Anyone caught faces prosecution and a fine of up to £1,000.
