IT was nice to read about the clean up of the cycle and footpath that runs between the Heyford Hill and Littlemore roundabouts (Oxford Mail, January 15).

I even took a ride along on my bicycle and, yes, they have done a great job of it.

The footpath and embankment have been cleared of weeds, brambles and overhanging branches, and lots of rubbish has been removed.

I believe this was done after incidents of muggings, and the work will prevent people from hiding while they await their victims.

But why has the section not been cleared between the alleyway that leads into Rivermead Road and Heyford Hill Roundabout?

You cannot see the footpath as it is buried under a mass of weeds, and loads of overhanging bushes.

You are forced to walk on the cycle track and are in danger of being hit by cyclists coming round a blind bend by the roundabout.

This is a length of around 100 yards, so is nowhere near the length of the other cleared area. But places to hide are plentiful for muggers.

Would it not be too much to ask for this area also to be cleared up and made safer for those walking and cycling along it?
