In a closely fought game, played again in an excellent spirit, Marston Saints held on to beat Faringdon Town 3-2 to collect their first win since the opening week of the season. Marston Saints started brightly, and had all the early pressure without really worrying the Faringdon keeper. However as Faringdon began to come into the game, Saints struck. A long clearance from keeper Daniel Upham was well controlled by Awadh Mohamed who fed the ball through to Daniel Coates. Daniel hit a firm shot which the keeper was unable to keep out.

Minutes later though Faringdon were very nearly back in the game, but with the forward through on goal, Daniel Upham produced a great save to push the ball clear for a corner. Marston Saints took a 2 goal lead in the 13 minute. From a corner on the left, the ball dropped to Jack O'Brien, who scored his first league goal for the club with a fiercely struck shot.

Marston Saints went 3-0 up early in the second half when Awadh Mohamed picked up a long clearance, burst past the defenders before skillfully dribbling the ball past the keeper and into the net.

Faringdon were back in the match 3 minutes later though. Throughout the game, Faringdon had delivered a series of excellent corners, and from the latest of these the ball fell to Dominic Allum to strike it home.

The match then went from end to end, with Maia Newman coming closest to scoring, but was first denied by a great save by Josh Dawson in the Faringdon goal, following great set up play from Awadh, and then poking a second effort over the bar.

As the match went into the final minute, Faringdon scored a second, from another dangerous corner. The ball bouncing around the area before Dominic Allum got the final touch. Saints though held on to collect all three points.
