If there is something strange in your neighbourhood there's only one person to call... Oxford's very own ghostbuster.

David Vee, of Temple Road, Cowley, describes himself as a fully-fledged professional ghost hunter prepared to seek out paranormal behaviour wherever it may be.

The TV presenter said he first started sensing ghosts when he was five, and has been seeing them ever since.

He spent the last eight years investigating paranormal activity at Britain's most haunted house and was involved in a programme, called Famous and Frightened, for the cable channel Living TV.

Now he has turned his attention to Oxfordshire and is keen to help anyone who believes their property may be shared with ghosts.

He said: "I think there are a lot of haunted locations. Most of the Oxford University colleges have some degree of haunting. I have seen a few things going around here, but I think there is an element of embarrassment among people in Oxfordshire.

"I would love to hear from anyone who genuinely believes their property is haunted by ghosts, but I take this very seriously and I am not easily fooled.

"I ask all sorts of questions before I visit somewhere to see if a place genuinely is haunted. For example I'd find out what time they think the hauntings take place and whether there was anything built there before. Generally, if I go to 10 houses one will be haunted.

"I also do extensive historical research in the library about the property and the area."

But although he believes he has the power to sense ghosts, he said he does not have the power to banish them, because they are from another dimension.

He added: "People have to learn to live alongside ghosts. Whatever is there was there before they arrived and will be there when they are gone. You cannot connect with ghosts - they just do whatever they do."

Mr Vee said he saw his first ghost when he was a child in Germany where his father, who was in the armed forces, was stationed.

He added: "This particular 'whatever' lived under my bed. My parents just thought it was an imaginary friend.

"Anyone who is sceptical of ghosts should spend a night at Chingle Hall in Lancashire, the most haunted place in the country.

"I don't see my ability as a hinderance - if I can help people, I will. All I can do is investigate and put people's minds at ease. If it is a normal ghost, there is no reason why they should be alarmed or worried."

Anybody who genuinely believes they have a ghost or other paranormal activity in their home can email david.vee@famousandfrightened.com and he will investigate free of charge.
