BRITAIN’S Got Talent star Fabia Cerra lit up the brightest house on an Oxford estate last night to start the countdown to Christmas.

Martin and Debbie Scarrott, from Northway Road in Barton, have been adding lights and displays to their ground-floor flat and garden for the past two years. But this is the first time they have held a big switch-on. And they used the event to raise money for forces charity Help for Heroes.

The couple’s Christmas display includes an 8ft snowman, reindeer, and penguins – all lit up for the whole of December.

Mr Scarrott, 45, said: “It has to be the brightest house in the neighbourhood and each year we get people stopping their cars outside to have a look.

“We know people who will be out in Afghanistan for Christmas so Help for Heroes is a really good cause.”

Burlesque dancer Miss Cerra, from Blackbird Leys, turned on the display. Miss Cerra, who shot to fame after stripping off in front of Simon Cowell on the hit TV show, said: “My five-year-old son Leon is just mesmerised by it. He has never seen so many lights.”
