Sir – On behalf of the St Clements traders, a very big thank you to all those readers who have supported our quest to save the St Clements car park from redevelopment.
We opened our restaurant in St Clements five years ago, primarily due to the location of the car park. A year without this facility, as well as the burden of heavy works during such time will be detrimental to our local businesses, especially those in close proximity to the car park.
We are proud of the eclectic individual area we have created, away from the well known signs of every High Street in the country — there is no Starbucks, no Next and no Costa . . . not yet anyway, although is that the plan? Anyone who would assist our campaign can sign the Save St Clements car park, Save St Clements petition online at www.gopetition.com/petition/40036.html. Planning objections must be submitted to Oxford City Council by December 2, 2010.
