Police are appealing for information after a man was assaulted in Witney yesterday evening.

The 18-year-old man was stood waiting for a bus to Carterton at the bus stop in Oxford Hill at 6pm when the incident happened.

He was approached by a man who punched him in the face and then head-butted him.

The offender was then restrained by another man, and the two men walked away from the scene.

It was the second unprovoked attack on Oxford Hill in two weeks.

The offender is described as white, in his mid-twenties, with a slim build, short, dark hair and stubble. He was wearing a light blue/grey raincoat that was zipped right up to the top.

PC Conor Breen said: “I would like to speak to anyone who may have seen this incident, or saw this man in the area around the time of the assault.

“This attack was completely unprovoked and Thames Valley Police is keen to speak with this man.

“There was another man stood waiting at the bus stop when the assault happened. He is described as being in his mid-forties and was wearing a black jacket with the hood up.

“Were you this man? Did you see this assault? If so, then I would urge you to come forward.”
